
Volunteer with Restless Development
Restless Development is a youth-led development agency working with young people in Africa and Asia. Its programmes tackle some of the most pressing issues facing young people today.
Restless Development is one of six organisations sending International Citizen Service (ICS) volunteers.
Restless Development believes young people have the energy, commitment and skills to solve some of the world’s biggest problems.
It places young people at the forefront of change and development and is led by young people, from the boardroom right through to the grassroots.

If you volunteer for ICS with Restless Development you could work in:

All Restless Development ICS volunteers work in partnership with a volunteer from the host country.
Volunteers only work with projects that have specifically requested the help of ICS to meet local needs, so you know your contribution will make a real difference.
What you'll do
Restless Development focuses on three areas:
civic participation (helping young people make a contribution to the development process)
livelihoods and employment (helping young people take up productive livelihoods and employment opportunities)
sexual and reproductive health (so that young people engaging in safe sexual and reproductive practices that lead to healthy lives).
Examples of previous projects include:
giving career guidance to students – including CV writing sessions, supporting students to complete job or training applications, and exploring different career opportunities with students
supporting other civil society organisations (CSOs) – volunteers receive training on development issues, and then work to increase the quality of the CSO’s work
running sexual health workshops, which involve using dance and music to promote HIV and AIDS awareness to young people
conducting research, through focus groups, surveys and observations at youth clubs, and then designing a manual to support future work in the communities
supporting students to set up youth clubs, which can then take action to address issues in their community by organising, for example, computer skills sessions, sports activities and lobbying politicians and leaders.
How it works
When you volunteer for ICS with Restless Development you will be part of a group of international and national volunteers. Groups range in size from 8-30.
Volunteers lives in groups of 2-5 people either in the house of someone from the local community or in rented accommodation. Departure dates to be confirmed.
